DRESS CODE
All students in the college are expected to adhere to the college’s dress code as detailed below:
(a)
Departments such as Tourism, Nursing and Cosmetology will wear uniforms specially designed for their respective groups.
(b)
All other day students are required to wear polo shirts with colours and designs specified by the college. The dress code also requires males to wear full-length pants and females to wear either full-length pants or knee length or longer skirts.
(c)
Evening students are expected to dress as if they are working in an office. These students will be required to wear a specially designed college pin whilst on campus.
(d)
The dress code must be followed at all times on the Excelsior compound and on such occasions where the student is representing the college off-campus.
(e)
The lending of polo shirts for the purpose of anyone entering the compound or attending classes is an offence that will attract disciplinary action.
(f)
Students who are seen on the compound in inappropriate attire will be immediately escorted off the compound or taken to an appropriate officer for this misconduct to be dealt with.

STUDENT DISCIPLINE
The Board of Management is responsible for the discipline of students of the college. The Principal, as Chief Executive Officer in the institution, is responsible for carrying out the mandate of the board. The Principal may delegate his/her powers to a Vice-Principal,

an appropriate officer, or a disciplinary committee, providing that the individual/group to whom power may be delegated will be in a position to act and be seen to act impartially.

Breach of discipline will be classified as minor, major, or gross misconduct. The procedures to deal with each category and the attendant action(s) to be taken will be different. These are detailed in a separate document titled “Misconduct Regulations" (available at the Student Affairs, Guidance and Student Union Offices). Minor offences are usually dealt with at the Departmental or Student Union levels. The Principal and/or the disciplinary committee will deal with major and gross offences.

The Principal has emergency powers to take immediate action, including suspension from college activities if he/she considers such action as necessary to preserve the discipline in the institution.

Students who are alleged to have commited offences that are in contravention of the law of the land will be reported to the police. The College’s own misconduct investigations or proceedings may be delayed until such time as the police and/or courts have completed

their investigations and proceedings. The Principal, however, has the right to use his/her emergency powers to take necessary and appropriate actions pending the result of any criminal investigation.

(Disciplinary Action is guided by the Education Act).

CLASS ATTENDANCE
Students are expected to have at least 80% average attendance to all classes. Students who are unavoidably absent are required to present a valid Doctor’s Certificate or a letter of explanation from parents or guardians (where applicable) which should be submitted, to the Students’ Affairs Office.

A student who is absent for more than twelve (12) consecutive classes or a maximum of two (2) consecutive days in any one semester without a valid reason, must report to the Head of Department before returning to class.

Students, who fail to satisfy departmental performance, attitude, and attendance requirements may be asked to withdraw.
