Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Studies

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Studies designed with industry participation and advice, seeks to cater to these needs, by providing students an opportunity to develop knowledge, competencies and skills in the following areas of specialization:

  • Marketing
  • Finance and Management
  • Accounting
  • Human Resource Management

Entry Requirements

  1. Passes in at least five (5) GCE subjects, inclusive of English Language and Mathematics or Accounts with grade A, B or C
  2. Passes in at least five (5) CXC subjects, inclusive of English Language and Mathematics or Accounts with Grade I, II, III. Grade III acceptable if attained after September 1998.
  3. Passes in at least five (5) SSC subjects, inclusive of English Language and Mathematics or Accounts with Range IV or V.
  4. Mature Student Entry
    Applicants falling in this category must be over the age twenty-five (25) years, with a minimum five (5) years experience in a specialized area of the industry, for e.g. marketing, accounts, office administrator and management. Each applicant will be accepted based on his/her employment portfolio, as well as certificates of achievement, positions held, along with job descriptions and proof of community involvement. Each applicant will be assessed independently.
  5. CCCJ Associates Degree in Business Studies/Office Administration or an Approved Associate Degree from a recognized institution.
  6. CCJ Diploma in Business Studies/Office Administration or Certificate in Business Studies Office Administration

Holders of qualifications outlined at 5 and 6 above will articulate into the programme at a level beyond the first year.

Duration
Day School - Two (2) years (Four (4) Semesters)
Evening School - Two (2) years including Summer (Six (6) Semesters)

Bachelor of Business Administration
(BBA-UTECH, Jamaica)

Entry Requirements

  • Passes in at least five (5) GCE subjects, inclusive of English Language and Mathematics with grade A, B or C
  • Passes in at least five (5) CXC subjects, inclusive of English Language and Mathematics with Grade I, II, III. Grade III acceptable if attained after September 1998.

Duration
Four (4) years
One year at EXED
Three years at Utech, Jamaica

Associate Degree in Business Studies*

The Business Studies Programme is typically offered over two (2) years, though students are allowed a total of five (5) in which to complete the programme. All students pursuing the programme, be it full-time or part-time, must complete all the courses (thirty six credits) which comprises Year 1 of the Programme. In Year 2, students are required to do the core courses along with the courses that fall under their area of specialization.

  • Marketing
  • Office Administration
